3 Reasons to be Thankful for your Pastor
Nov 17, 2020

When I think of the ways our pastors teach us, serve us and help us grow spiritually, I'm overwhelmed with gratitude! Are you? How often do we find ourselves thanking God for our pastor instead of staring at his life through a microscope. There are hundreds of reasons to be thankful for your pastor, and mine for that matter, but here are 3 of my personal favorites.

1. Pastors layout the direction of the church:
We've heard it say that sometimes God gives one man a vision and then walks with him through the trials it takes to get to seeing that vision fulfilled.  Though generally all pastors are concerned with serving their congregation well, teaching and outreach, God gives very specific visions to different pastors across the country and nation. It is a privilege to serve alongside a pastor with a vision. These godly men have callings on their lives and because of that we should be so thankful. Whether it's for orphans, clean water, biblical counseling discipleship or testimonies, whatever biblical direction your pastor has been called is a blessing worth being thankful for!

2. Teach and minister to us with weekly encouragement and admonishment from the Lord:
This is the most common job Christians associate with being a pastor, but are we really thankful for what this is in our lives? Are we thankful that our pastors take the time to go before the Lord and prepare thoughtful, biblical messages to help us thrive and grow in our Christian walk. We tend to criticize and keep our focus self centered, but the fact that God has ordained people to do this in our lives is such a fantastic blessing.

3. Pastors walk with us through life's greatest highs and lows:
Perhaps it's easier to take for granted to be thankful for the role pastors play in life's most challenging times. When there is death, betrayal or even a great many victories our pastors are there with condolences, prayers and edification. They marry us and speak at the funerals of those we loved most. They make hospital visits, house calls and take middle of the night phone calls when tragedy strikes. They are available to their congregations  day after day and year after year. What a reason to be thankful!!!

There are so many more reasons to be thankful for your pastors, but I'm going to leave you with a quick bonus of ideas on how you can pray for your pastor,

Prayers for your pastor...Lord,

  • help me to be thankful for my pastor and not be critical
  • bless their family
  • multiply their time
  • give them wisdom and discernment
  • let them give their burdens to you on a daily basis
  • give them a safe place to rest
  • help them restore any broken family relationships
  • revive their ministry visions so they may walk in your calling.

Amen

Did you know it will only take 20,000 Christians donating $100 each to fund our facilities project?! Be 1 of the 20,000 who joins us in creating a place where leaders can come with their families, on their own time table to rest, restore and revive.
